The ABC's of Memory by Carson Grey

A dripping faucet whispers dreams

Before I practice my routine.

Crack an egg, or two, or three.

Don't forget your cup of tea.

Eventually, my family,

Forgetting to acknowledge me,

Go to the kitchen, prowling for food.

Hah! I love their groggy moods.

I close my eyes and welcome other senses,

Just embracing the realness of presence.

Kodak moment, when those cameras existed,

Lamenting the memory when Grandpa fixed it...

Memory...what a bitch...

Openly detaches me with every stitch.

Poisons the present barren walls,

Quarries of emotions staining our halls.

Remember when I carried you,

Supported by love, to our living room?

Tension.

Unanimous.

Verdict.

Wallow.

X-rays branded. Souls hollowed.

You are forever in our heads and hearts

Zoey.
